all art is pain suffered and outlived”- Robert Hayden

{WHO} – ADRIEN RIESTRA // {BORN} – MEXICO/USA

{SOUL VIBE}– karmic Wanderer and Creative inventor

{sPOTTED} – walking down the pebble streets of a southern beach town, cowboy hat and boots, playing a jarana jarocha slung around the back, freshly picked peach in hand, a lone soul with both a loving and tragic twinkle in the eye. You can’t miss this character when he comes towards you.

{INSTRUMENT} a jarana jarocha. a traditional Mexican folk instrument from Veracruz, carved from a single piece of wood, with 8 strings in 4 courses. It has a warm, percussive sound and is central to son jarocho music.

{DREAMS} – to be a recyclable Sculpture inventor and creator. A musician for the soul. Having big shoes to fill, or perhaps a big Shadow to walk in, Taking after his father, Adolofo Riesta, a well known mexican artist and sculptor, who is no longer alive today.

To be reunited with his love for dancing, to find more moments to smile at, to feel joy and peace. Adrien once ran a youths gym club, supported kids to give them a safe outlet to be, and to work on their health and bodies.

{Favourite Quotes}

When asked about his iconic flashy style – “people have always stared at me my whole life, so i figure might as well give them something good to look at”

“be proud of who you are, stand tall, don’t take shit”

“i saw your suffering, and i came to carry that pain away. You will feel better once I leave, It is my role to carry this burden”

“theres no such thing as a good person, we are at all times both good and bad”

“man, music is my medicine – If i don’t have my Jarana with me, i feel like i’m missing a limb”

{reading Recommendation} – Love’s Manifesto: The Courage to Let Your Heart Lead the Way

{oUR FIRST MEETING} – like two cosmic souls colliding, i saw adrien walking into the plaza from a distance, with a slow walk, cowboy hat and boots, Scorpion neck tattoo, gold tooth, some metal contraption around his shoulder, playing this small Guitar on his chest. and i knew Instinctually and Immediately, with a shadow like gravitational energy coming towards, that we were about to have a meeting. He sat next to me, and the rest is now a semi-blurry Fairy-tail. I was suffering in that moment, Separated and lost from myself – and the universe put us two miss-fits together to hear, hold and heal.

{how to contact} – no phone, no email, no social media.

When i realized i wanted to do this interview with him, I didn’t know how to find him. So I held a special bag he sold me, and wished for him to appear. my hand tingled with energy as i made the intention and connection – we walked by Eachother a few hours later.

You might be able to find him around his Step-fathers music shop. Sadly like many locals the shop was getting forced out of San pancho due to raising prices and were in the middle of relocating to Lo De Marcos during this interview. At the end of the interview i have this distinct image of him walking away and not knowing if our paths will ever cross again.

Here is a Special track of us jamming and improv singing with his song “Cigarette and Gasoline” inside A local Restaurant (pictured).

You can here the owner say – “Esa calor en la cantina”. a way of saying that This is the kind of heat and spirit you’d find in a real cantina

Dear Karmic Wanderer, May every single spirit looking down, dance and cheer with the liberation of your chains. May you find peace and Safety in this lifetime. And each lifetime after. For every soul is worthy and no soul truly lost. we can’t out run our shadow but we can turn on the light.

.THANK YOU MY FRIEND. these are the moments, the connections, and the emotions i won’t forget.
