“YOU CAN LEARN TO BREATHE THROUGH ANYTHING” – Oscar Perez
There are practices that almost everyone recommends, but that are surprisingly difficult to understand until you experience them for yourself. Breathwork was one of those for me.
For a long time, people would say, “focus on your breath,” and I’d think, I am breathing. It seemed simple, almost too simple. The same was true for meditation. I understood the concept, but I couldn’t yet connect it to a real, tangible shift in my own experience.
That changed when I finally had an experience that altered my physiology enough for me to feel the difference directly.
In this reflection, I explore what finally made breathwork and meditation click, why understanding often comes through experience rather than explanation, and how changing your physiological state can completely reshape your understanding of these practices.
